High Lodge Forest Centre is Forestry England’s premier recreation destination at the heart of Thetford Forest and a great place to visit during English Tourism Week 2021.

It has an extensive network of walking routes throughout the 2,276 hectares estate, that is a working forest, including DDA compliant easy access trails, guided running routes of varying distances and the Heritage Lottery Funded – Heritage Trail.  Cyclist of all ages have over 50Km of graded tracks to explore the wider forest.  Additional attractions include a children’s play area, natural play, learning opportunities and a year round activity and events programme including Active Forest (fitness and wellbeing) and Forest Live an annual live music festival; postponed until 2022.  The Gruffalo Spotters interactive trail is popular with young families.

With the Spring Bank Holiday and school’s half-term the site and its business partners will be open d daily; a café with food-to-go, bike hire by Bike Art and high wire adventure provided by GoApe with other pay to play actives including Archery and Bushcraft – subject to current covid restrictions and social distancing.  High Lodge is covid ready with ‘We’re Good to Go’ recognition and has recently retained its Visit England Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme accreditation too. High Lodge had a cashless payment system for car parking and offers regular visitors a Membership scheme so you can visit the site as often as you want, this can be purchased online.

During covid restrictions, High Lodge has been a destination to enjoy the great outdoors, a beautiful and inspiring landscape of pine tree plantations, and frequent visitor will have seen that we have recently rebranded and installed new wayfinding signage across the site.
