Fakenham Choral Society — Come & Sing Day —- 7 May 2022

Enjoy a day’s singing and raise funds for the Big C!

Fakenham Choral Society is hosting a Come & Sing Day on Saturday 7 May 2022 in Fakenham Parish Church.  The day is intended to celebrate in music both the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as well as the joy of being able to sing together again after two very difficult years for singers.

The music has been chosen with a Royal and celebratory theme and will include well known favourites, Handel’s  Zadok the Priest  and Parry’s I was Glad both from the Coronation service as well as some excerpts from Elgar’s Coronation Ode and Mozart’s’ Coronation Mass.

The Come & Sing Day aims to raise funds not only for FCS but also, with singers’ and audience donations and part of the raffle on the day, for the Big C who have 3 centres and several hubs, all located in Norfolk, aiming to provide local people with access to the best cancer treatment and support close to where they live.

The day will be led by FCS’s musical director Mark Jones, in his usual exuberant style and accompanied by FCS accompanist, James Mooney Dutton. There will be morning and afternoon workshops and a short free performance at 5pm when an audience is welcome to come along and enjoy the culmination of the day’s work.

The day is aimed at encouraging all singers, whether you sing regularly or have not sung for a while, to come along and have fun singing and learning together. Singers in all voice parts are most welcome.

The cost will be £12 for singers, and £5 for under 21s and singers should register by Sunday 1 May 2022.
