Event Description

A family oriented Scottish themed event that combines the traditional Scottish elements (Pipe Bands, Dancing and Piping competitions and Highland Games) with arena displays, stage performances, children’s races, Haggis Hurling, craft, market and charity stalls, food and drink outlets, archery, climbing wall and Go Kart attractions – something for everyone! Featuring this year are two performances by “The Spectacular Knights of the Crusades”, with tales of Richard the Lionheart and the Legend of King Arthur – children are invited to take part as Squires to the Knights, Village Maidens and Lady of the Day.

Set in the lovely surroundings of Rothamsted Park, it offers one of the lowest cost days of family fun in Hertfordshire – just £8 for a family of 2 adults with children under 16 if programmes (which serve as tickets) are purchased in advance.

Organised by Harpenden Lions Club, the Highland Gathering is also a major fundraising event for charities and volunteer groups. The main beneficiaries for 2019 will be Keech Hospice Care and Harpenden Lions own charities, including their Life Skills Programme for local schools.
