Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens opened on 30th July 2016 and is a new independent interactive small zoo based within Van Hage Garden Centre in Great Amwell, Hertfordshire, set within approximately 2 acres of beautifully kept grounds that are home to a variety of exotic animal species.
The zoo is split into two distinct areas:
Adventure Island is home to some of the world’s most charismatic and important tropical island species, where you will meet ring-tailed lemurs, red fronted lemurs, fossa, Burmese python, lorikeets, tropical wader birds and the UK’s only Cuban hutia exhibited in a zoo.

At Sidly’sWildlands you can join Ranger Sidly on a mini adventure around the world. Take in North America, Northern Europe, Australia, Africa and South America, and get up close to species including reindeer, emu, red necked wallabies, parma wallabies, grant’s zebra, llama and alpaca

Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens offer exciting events on the run up to Christmas, with their current half term Halloween Zootacular activities running until Monday 31st October:
The Explorer’s Lodge hosts the Creepy Creature Animal Encounter Shows to include the fascinating Hog Island boa, which is just one of the amazing animals you might happen to meet up close in a Creepy Creature Animal Encounter.
Every day their is a different selection of amazing creepy creatures to meet! Daily and also including Monday 31st. It’s a fantastic up close opportunity to see a selection of ‘creepier’ animals including giant bugs, owls, snakes and lizards. These animals are not on display elsewhere.
Creepy Critter Station is a Halloween themed temporary exhibit to add even more excitement to your visit, with tree frogs, scorpions, tarantulas, cockroaches and giant millipedes.

 

Guests can see the Bumblebee Car from the Transformers movies on display all week.
Once the schools are back it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun after school.
Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens have recently launched a fantastic new after school club rate which allows 1 adult and up to 2 school children zoo entry for just £8.00.

 

Christmas Events run between 26th November – 31st December and include:See the Zoo’s Christmas lights, meet their reindeer, and Reindeer Trekking experiences!
Autumn off-peak opening hours, including the after school club which starts from 3.30pm, and is the perfect time to enjoy the late afternoon animal feeds.

Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens also offer their very own little slice of Australia with an Emu, parma wallaby and red-necked wallaby, and offer an additional Discover Australia Experience where you can go behind the scenes with these wonderful animals.
