Stream avant-garde masterpieces with English subtitles from Berlin’s awesome Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz

The theatre opened its storied video vaults on a nightly basis for a strand of work called ‘Coercive Measures’. Every night, starting at 6.30pm German time and running until midnight, it streamed a different play from its archive, letting audiences worldwide stream some of the most remarkable theatre that has ever taken place into their living rooms.
After an interlude in the summer, the streaming programme has now resumed. The plays are no longer nightly, but there are still a few crackers scheduled each week.
Most modern productions come complete with English subtitles – but frankly, everything is worth a look for the visuals alone, even if you don’t get the lingo.

C’mon, what else have you got to do?

Center Theatre Group: The Greek Trilogy of Luis Alfaro

L.A.’s biggest nonprofit theater company, Center Theatre Group—which runs the Ahmanson Theatre, the Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas Theatre—streams all three parts of MacArthur “genius” grantee Luis Alfaro’s Greek Trilogy, which transplants ancient tragedies to the world of modern Latino-American life: Oeidpus El Rey, Mojado and Electricidad. The plays are free on demand and include an option for Spanish captioning.
