AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR VISITS WILLOWS FARM NURSERY
ON WORLD BOOK DAY
The author and illustrator of the internationally renowned series ‘64 Zoo Lane’ is visiting Willows Farm Day Nursery and Pre-School in St. Albans on World Book Day (Thursday 2 March 2017).
The stories, written and animated by Belgian-born English author An Vrombaut, feature a young girl called Lucy who lives next door to a zoo and is told a bedtime story by the animals each night.
The author will read one of her illustrated picture books to the children on World Book Day, and will participate in arts and crafts activity, bringing her animal characters to life. She will then take a trip around Willows Activity Farm with some of the older children to choose her favourite animals to draw. The children have also been invited to dress up as animals to celebrate the UNESCO-recognised day.
‘64 Zoo Lane’ was nominated for BAFTA Children’s Best Preschool Animation in 2000 at the BAFTA Children’s and won the British Animation Award for Best Pre-School Series in 2002. The series aired UK since 1999 and is also popular in France and the USA.
Louise Hobbs, Senior Childcare Manager at the Willows Farm Day Nursery and Pre-School added: “We’re thrilled to have the author of such a well know series of children’s books visit us on World Book Day. Reading skills are a key part of the curriculum here at the nursery and this is a brilliant way to make education interactive and playful.
“An’s stories are about a girl who lives next to a zoo so it’s fitting for our children who go to nursery next to a farm!”
