Young people show their creative flair at NCCD this Summer
Summer 2017 at NCCD is packed full of great opportunities for families and young people to tap into their creative side this summer.
From July, NCCD is hosting 3 exciting workshops specifically aimed at young adults, called the Summer Sessions. Over the course of these day long sessions, attendees aged between 12-25yrs old will have the opportunity to work with designer-makers and get a special insight into creative industries.
The workshops cover a variety of skills including metalsmithing, paper cutting and the third workshop looks at how fashion is used as a method of self-expression and can be used as a political force. All of the Summer Session workshops are all full day courses and cost £25, with 10% off in the NCCD café.
Throughout the school holidays, there will also be a series of FREE Awesome Apparel workshops held every Tuesday 10am-2pm, with children who take part getting the opportunity to achieve their Discover and Explore Arts Award. The theme of the workshops will be linked to our Main Gallery exhibition The World Is Your Dressing Up Box and includes themes such as Marvellous Millinery and Character Costumes.
On Mon 14 August, the founder of the ‘Psychology of Fashion’ blog, Shakaila Forbes Bell will also be giving a talk to aspiring bloggers, vloggers and writers about how to stand out in a crowded online community while maintaining your authenticity.
There is sure to be something in the programme at NCCD this summer to get the creative juices flowing and inspire the young designer-makers and online influencers of tomorrow.
