Plumpton Racecourse is a privately owned national hunt racecourse nestled at the foot of the South Downs in beautiful Sussex. Each year, we host 16 jump meetings from September to May, including a two-day Easter fixture, Ladies Day and Family Day.
Family Day is our first fixture of the 2017-2018 season, and this year is being held on Sunday, 24th September.
There will be 7 races across the card, attracting the country’s top jockeys and trainers, as well as regular, local trainers. At Plumpton, our racegoers can really get up close and personal to enjoy the thrills of the day. Being one of the smallest courses in the country, we offer spectacular spectator viewing. You are never far from the parade ring, the course side or the winner’s enclosure. We pride ourselves on our friendly, relaxed atmosphere, where all our racegoers can feel part of the action.
As well as the racing, Family Day also boasts a fun fair, offering many rides and activities for all members of the family (parts of the fair may incur a surcharge). The Derby Horse Hoppers are returning by popular demand. Racegoers young and old can enjoy their own race down the inflatable track on their trusty steed, wearing a choice of jockey silks to really feel like a pro. This free attraction really does get the crowd going and sees a family’s competitive side rising to the surface.
The best part of Family Day is that accompanied children under 18 go racing free. All adult racegoers receive a complimentary racecard and children receive free kids packs and young racegoer’s badges. Car parking is also free, but the racecourse is adjacent to Plumpton train station, with direct trains from London Victoria and Eastbourne.
Racegoers can choose to either enjoy racing from the picnic enclosure, from just £10 per person when booked in advance, or purchase a Grandstand and Paddock ticket, which gives you access to all public areas including the picnic enclosure, Grandstand bars and parade ring. Grandstand and Paddock tickets start at £16 per person when booked in advance.
Gates open at 12 noon and with the first race at 2:00pm (provisional timing), there is plenty of opportunity to explore the fun fair before racing begins.
