Alby Crafts & Gardens boasts a food lover’s tea room and bistro
Alby Crafts & Gardens boasts a food lover’s tea room and bistro, a plant lover’s garden with year round interest and high quality art and craft by over 50 local makers across the ten studios and galleries on site. There is nowhere else quite like it. The secret of its appeal lies in a unique harmony between varied, creative businesses and the tranquil setting. It is truly one of Norfolk’s hidden gems.
At the heart of the complex Alby Tearoom serves freshly cooked lunches and too-good-to-be-true gluten free cakes as well as special events such as steak and pizza nights. The Upper Courtyard also hosts the Purple Parrot gift shop, Sun Essences making Bach flower remedies and in the gallery upstairs, Jane Kenning bespoke dressmaker and Hannah Ghoorahoo making soft furnishings.
In the Lower Courtyard Helen Dixon is a potter and ceramist whose work has evolved from being almost entirely sculptural to her current focus on decorative ceramics. Mitchell House, a traditionally trained sculptor and tutor, works mainly in iron, bronze and cold cast bronze. Three of his plaques are on permanent display on Sheringham promenade. Claire Knight creates detailed paper cuts and ceramics, and sells the work of over 30 other local artists at The Hare & Moon Gallery. Keverne Dewick is a wood worker producing bespoke furniture and turned pieces. His passion is for clean, simple lines. Tracy Myers is a printmaker and world traveller, drawing inspiration from her journeys to remote points on the compass.
