Palace House, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art is pleased to announce that it will now be offering free entry to all current and retired racing and stud staff. Palace House is launching this scheme on the 1st July during the annual Racing Welfare event, Racing Staff Week.

Palace House is the perfect day out for someone wishing to learn more about the history of the industry they are currently working or used to work in, but Palace House is so much more than a museum. There is an industry standard racing simulator on-site which is operated by legends of the racing world including Frank Conlon, former head lad for Henry

Cecil and Jane O’Shea, former head girl for William Haggas. Up and coming jockeys are encouraged to come to Palace House at quiet times to train on the simulator and learn from the legends.

A trip to Palace House is not complete without a visit to the Rothschild Yard where the Retraining of Racehorses have their showcase yard. Racing and Stud staff can meet the equine heroes of the sport, current resident ex-racehorses include Ascot Gold Cup Winner Big Orange, trained locally in Newmarket by Michael Bell.

Steven Parissien, Chief Executive of Palace House said:

“We’re very pleased to offer these complimentary annual passes to the devoted and hard- working racing and stud staff. These are the people who hold up the horseracing industry and this offer is the least we could do to say thank you and well done”

National Association of Racing Staff (NARS) Chief Executive George McGrath said about the offer:

“It’s great that Palace House have offered the free annual passes in recognition of the incredible work that racing and stud staff have done over the years and continue to do. I hope that plenty of people will take the offer up and not only learn more about their industry but also show off to their friends and family what an exciting and rich history horseracing has.”

Dawn Goodfellow, Chief Executive of Racing Welfare said:

“The offer of complimentary admission for racing and stud staff to Palace House is fabulous initiative. We are delighted that this is being launched during Racing Staff Week and provides a way of connecting racing’s workforce past and present with their sporting heritage. It is a wonderful place and we hope that very many people register for their pass.”

Palace House will be working closely with the Racing Centre in Newmarket and NARS to distribute these free passes to all staff and retired staff who would like to take up the offer, Annual passes will be available from the Racing Centre in Newmarket from Monday 1st July.
