As part of the national Circus250 celebrations The Oak Circus Centre in Norwich is bringing the circus world to Norwich. Performers, organisers and others from around the globe will gather at The Oak, Norfolk’s only venue providing training in circus skills for everyone from beginners to professionals, that’s run by experienced circus performers. It is home to the region’s largest permanent aerial circus rig and lunging system.
Running from 20 –23 September, Fly High will be a mix of industry events and opportunities for the public to try their hand at circus training from some of the world’s foremost experts, and also to watch those experts in action.
A day symposium, for and about performers, will include discussion about circus disciplines, their development over the past 250 years and the directions they may take over the next 250! Experienced performers from different backgrounds will discuss their routes into the circus and offer advice to those seeking to carve out a career in the discipline.
So far confirmed tutors and professionals attending and sharing their knowledge and skills include German hand-to-hand duo Forma Fortis, Cyr Wheel specialist Kris Madden and high-flying aerialists Aerial Edge from Glasgow with. many more artists to be revealed closer to the date.
There will also be a Saturday evening cabaret show open to the public. This will feature many of the star performers attending the convention alongside Oak Circus Centre students and members of the centre’s resident international company Lost in Translation – who are rapidly becoming established as one of the country’s leading and best-loved contemporary circus companies.
