Event Description

This month’s meeting of the Bucks Pottery & Sculpture Society will include a talk and demonstration by High Wycombe based ceramicist Sophie Smith. Sophie’s work is strongly influenced by medieval art and design, mixed with the work of her favourite artists such as Chagall and Klimt. She has two main lines of work – a range of one-off decorative pieces including press-moulded bowls, dishes and platters; plus individually slip-cast and hand-built cases, candle holders, tiles etc. Her bright and colourful earthenware pieces have line designs scratched into the damp clay, and are decorated with slips, glazes and lustres. Each piece is then fired three times. Sophie’s main objective is to be creative and have fun.

The talk for the Bucks Pottery & Sculpture Society will be held at Little Kingshill Village Hall, Windsor Lane, HP16 0DZ. Entry is free for BPSS members, £5 for visitors.
