Event Description

As part of the Roman River 2019 Festival we have included the exciting innovation of a Colchester weekend in July, crammed full of musical treats for you to enjoy. From our early years concert to the laid-back charisma of Norwich band Nebula Sun, the hypnotising Ensemble Bash to the mesmerising and dramatic music played by the Singh Quartet, there is something for everyone. We are incredibly excited to welcome the forty musicians of Street Orchestra Live as ensemble-in-residence in July. They are redefining the notion of classical music, bringing fresh, informal performances to care homes, hospitals, shopping centres … everywhere you don’t expect it. They open the festival on a summer’s evening under a specially constructed marquee in Firstsite’s gardens, and end the weekend with our traditional festival finale, this year very excitingly for the first time in St Botolph’s church in Colchester, with primary school choirs and talented youngsters performing alongside the professional musicians.
