Event Description

Quilt Art: Material Evidence is a celebration of the adventurous spirit and rich heritage of women who make art through stitching. From current and former members of the international group Quilt Art.

The exhibition is inspired by the life and art of founder member and influential quilt artist, Mary Fogg. She was known for her painterly approach and her experiments with recycled fabrics before it was fashionable.

She called her work; ‘a celebration of cloth in all the wonderful variety available to us: colour, pattern, texture, flexibility and the way it reflects light.’

Each member of the Quilt Art group takes a unique approach to her legacy. They create exciting, cutting-edge work which aims to transcend people’s ideas of what quilting can do.
