Event Description

Orlando Weeks first came to prominence as frontman of The Maccabees. After debuting in 2005, the band became one of the most influential bands of recent years, winning Best British Band at the NME Awards as well as the prestigious Ivor Novello for Best Contemporary Song. The Maccabees split at the height of their powers, with their fourth album ‘Marks To Prove It’ going straight to #1 before they departed with three sold-out nights at Alexandra Palace.

Weeks returned in 2017 with his critically acclaimed project ‘The Gritterman’. An alternative festive tale, Orlando wrote and illustrated the book, published by Penguin, and also released an accompanying companion album.

Weeks will be performing new solo material, which will be released as an album this year. This tour marks the first time Orlando will perform these songs live with a band.

The shows are an opportunity to hear this new music first, live and in an exclusive intimate setting, ahead of any recorded music being released.

Orlando has said:

“The album I’ve been working on for the last eighteen months is very nearly done. For me, holding my nerve has been a large part of finishing a record, and there’s a certain confidence that comes from discovering a song can survive in a room full of strangers. The flip side of that is that you unearth problems you wish had stayed buried. There’s every chance it won’t work, but that’s the gamble.”
