Event Description

This cult  French New Wave band, once home to the sultry vocalist Camille are probably one of the coolest cover bands you could ever see. Formed by French producers Marc Collin and Oliver Libaux the band have featured a number of female vocailsts who have gone on to have successful solo careers, including  Camille, Phoebe Killdeer, Mélanie Pain, and Nadéah Miranda.

With a name that means “new wave” in English and “bossa nova” in Portuguese, Nouvelle Vague’s moniker neatly sums up the group’s concept: remaking classic new wave singles with a Brazilian pop twist. Formed in 2004 Nouvelle Vague released four albums between 2004-2010,  selling over a million records and appearing in world tours that included stops at venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl and Paris’ Olympia.

Between 20011-2016 Nouvelle Vague stopped recording, focusing on an innovative live show created in collaboration with the mythical Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (Ceremony and Dawn of innocence,) and branching out into different projects: Olivier’s Uncovered Queen of the Stone Age, and Marc’s Bristol, along with his Kwaidan label.

Their latest studio album ‘I Could Be Happy’ was released in 2016 to much crticial acclaim and added four self-penned songs wrotten in three different languages as well as radical re-workings of songs by The Cure,  The Ramones, Altered Images and The Cocteau Twins.

Expect to hear classic tracks such as Joy Divisions ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, Depeche Mode’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and The Buzzcock ‘Ever Fallen In Love’  performed in their unique and enchanting Bossa Nova style.
