Event Description

Mrs Cromwell Kitchen’s – The Festive Feast

Wednesday 2nd December 2020, 11.00 am to 12.30pm and 1.30 pm – 3.00 pm

Join Nora Gardner, aka The Hungry Roundhead, our local guide and food historian to learn about the flavours and ingredients of 17th Century cooking in England. Visit Mrs Cromwell’s original kitchen and listen to Nora as she explains just how these wonderful old recipes were made, and how we can compare them to a modern-day dish! Follow Nora to our wonderful, oak panelled Tithe Office where Cromwell once sat, and hear further tales of cooking in the 17th Century. Just before the end of your talk, grab a ‘Cromwell Feast’ of goodies, a complimentary recipe card and enjoy!

Did you know Christmas was banned during the Commonwealth, however, many people still celebrated behind closed doors? Learn about the festive food that would have been enjoyed by the Cromwell family and find out where some of the customs and traditions came from which make up the Christmas Feast we know today.

Please book online. Tickets £20.00
