Event Description

On the first Sunday in August every year for over a decade fans and aficionados have poured in from across the country and around the world to enjoy a celebration of authentic Lincolnshire folk music and dancing spread over indoor and outdoor stages throughout the village.

Leadenham thanks the nearly a hundred folk musicians from around Lincolnshire who bring their talents to entertain visitors from far and wide and introduce many to the rich, creative vitality and deep, historic traditions of the Lincolnshire folk scene.

None of the performers are paid for their contribution to this community art event, which comes to Leadenham purely as a labour of love. Their generosity and enthusiasm makes it possible to run this event free of charge to the thousands of visitors whom Leadenham welcomes every year. As the event approaches the names of all the performers will appear on the roster below with links to their pages so that you can learn more about them.

This annual festival event emerged in 2010 out of the free and informal 600 Whiskies weekly folk nights long established by Tom Lane in the George Hotel, Leadenham.

Tom’s and his volunteer committee’s considerable efforts throughout the year in preparation for the annual event are rewarded purely by community spirit and a love of Lincolnshire folk music, however there are costs to meet for which they are reliant entirely on donations and the sale of event programs and merchandise.

Leadenham welcomes all the visitors and invites you to support this free village-wide festival by buying the event programs, t-shirts and CDs.

Supporting the Lincolnshire folk artists will be many stalls of Lincolnshire artisans displaying all sorts of arts and crafts for exhibition and sale. As they register to the event they will appear on the roster below with links to their pages so that you can find out more about them.

For food and drink again the options available will be Lincolnshire artisan produce and service. Leadenham Teahouse will be open serving food and drink alongside folk music performance stages, and on The Nun’s Close will be a variety of refreshment stalls in view of outdoor stages and artisan stalls in a village parkland setting.
