Event Description

‘The 1920’s never looked so good…’

Irene O’Dare is a piano tuner on 9th Avenue in Manhattan, she meets dashing millionaire Donald S Marshall III, whilst tuning his grand piano at his Long Island Estate and the inevitable happens, yes… romance blossoms!

During the mix ups and mayhem that ensues including an irresistible Irish Jig, a Palace Royale party and couture costume designs that Coco Chanel would envy; she helps her two girlfriends by becoming a fashion model alongside them for ‘world famous’ designer Madame Lucy but She is under the guise of ‘Contessa Irena Odarie’ in the vein hope that the society folk and Donald’s wealthy relatives at the event won’t recognize her compared to her former incarnation as the 9th Avenue piano tuner.

A witty show full of hysterical comedy moments, a beautiful bright Broadway score including ‘You made me love you’, ‘Alice Blue Gown’, ‘What do you wanna make those eyes at me for’ and ‘I’m always chasing rainbows’ and a Charleston- style ‘Riviera Rage’ that’ll have you tapping your toes and humming along to the recognizable tunes. This production marks the hundred year anniversary since it first premiered on Broadway and for 20 years remained the longest running show on the great white way. Don’t miss the chance to see the first Portsmouth revival since the gay ‘90’s.

If you love musicals, you’ll love Irene!
