Event Description

Hertford Castle will be hosting two open air theatre performances in its grounds for you to enjoy with friends and the whole family. Bring along a picnic rug or chair as well as a picnic or treat yourself from the food stalls and bar, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Tickets prices £10 per person

Tickets can be purchased online for £10 (a booking fee of 60pence per ticket will be charged) at https://www.hertford.gov.uk/events/hertford-castle-open-air-theatre-a-midsummer-nights-dream-692/

Gates open at 6.30pm, performance starts at 7pm

A theatrical performance set within the Castle grounds of Shakespeare’s most enduringly popular comedy of love and intrigue, magic and mayhem, is brought to life by family favourites Quantum Theatre in their wonderfully funny and exuberant production of the Shakespeare classic.

Set on that most dangerous of nights when fairies are abroad and nothing is as it seems. Four young, unsuspecting, lovers become entangled in their magical affray and soon no mortals are safe in those bewitched and bewitching woods outside Athens.

Come and be enchanted by this exciting, funny and intriguing new production designed to appeal to the whole family. Suitable for all age groups.

Important Information 

• Please note that this is an outdoor event and we encourage you to bring along suitable clothing for all weather conditions.
• There is no parking at Hertford Castle for this event, however public car parks in Hertford are free of charge on a Sunday and located within a short walking distance of the Castle. Check online for locations and times.
• Please bring a picnic rug or chair along to the event. Gazebos and tables are not allowed at this event.
• You’re welcome to bring food and refreshments including alcohol to the event. Glass is allowed on site, but we ask you to please take rubbish home with you to recycle. No BBQs are allowed on site.
• There will be food and refreshment stalls at the event.
• Smoking is allowed but not whilst seated, please make your way to an area away from other visitors whilst smoking.
• Only guide dogs are allowed at this event.
• Tickets purchased are valid for the set time and date of the performance stated only.
• Tickets will not be reissued if lost.
• The event will take place regardless of the weather and no refunds will be available.
