Event Description

You loved the Handlebards outdoor Shakespeare performance of Twelfth Night last year, so this year we’ve invited them back twice! Their all-female troupe will be performing The Tempest on Sunday 2nd June and their all-male troupe will be performing Much Ado About Nothing on Friday 28th June.

The Handlebards

Since 2013, the HandleBards have clocked-up over 7000 miles by cycling around the world to perform Shakespeare. Described by none other than Sir Ian McKellen as ‘uproariously funny’, they set the world on wheels with our unique brand of extremely energetic, charmingly chaotic, environmentally friendly cycle-powered theatre.

Join the all-female troupe for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ like none other. In usual HandleBards style, expect riotous amounts of energy, a fair old whack of chaos, and a great deal of laughter.

The Tempest

A shipwreck washes the court of Milan up onto a mysterious desert island, inhabited by magicians, sprites and monsters, where nothing is as it seems…

This show will be performed outdoors, so please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on and dress for the weather! There will be onsite catering to purchase drinks and hot food.
