Event Description

The Freemen of Norwich are proud to pay your admission to the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell and Stranger’s Hall. Take the family and explore the history of our city. Please check https://www.museums.norfolk.gov.uk for opening times.

The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell tells the stories of the city from Medieval to modern day, through the eyes of the people who worked in the trades and industries which put the city on the map.

It’s 60 years since Norwich was twinned with Rouen in Northern France. To celebrate, The Museum of Norwich summer exhibition looks back at Norwich in 1959.

Strangers’ Hall is a beautiful medieval merchant’s house and period house museum, with over 15 room displays showing how home life evolved from Tudor to Victorian times.

You can wander through a maze of rooms with steps and staircases, finding out how some of Norwich’s leading citizens lived and worked.

This year enjoy family activities during Freemens’ Fortnight, on the theme ‘Live like your Great-Granny’

There is no need to book simply turn up on the day for the free entry this summer and step back in time to enjoy two of Norwich’s treasured collections at both The Museum of Norwich and Strangers’ Hall.
