Festive Willow Weaving Trees and Stars Decoration Workshop

Saturday 30th November 2019 | 1pm until 3.30pm

Fancy a free lunch? – Book this workshop and the Angel workshop (9.45am until 12.15pm) at the same time and we will serve you a 2 course homemade lunch with a glass of local wine for FREE! Simply add a note in the comments box when booking, saying ‘Free Lunch’.

Get into the festive spirit this season and join us to make a beautiful selection of trees and stars then string together to make bunting. Decorate them with lights, hang them over a mirror or give them as a gift. The perfect way to start the festive season!

Our talented tutor Chris will guide you through the process step by step in this fun hands on activity. Showing you how to work with the willow and sharing with you her years of experience and knowledge of tools and materials; by the end of your session you will have made a lovely selection of stars and trees ready to be stung together to make the perfect bunting for your home.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginner. All materials and tools are provided along with refreshments and a glass of local wine.

Outline of the day

12.55pm Light refreshments and settle in

1.00pm Welcome and introduction on the history of willow

Demonstration on how to work with willow

Get hands on making your trees and stars

2.15pm Refreshment break enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of local wine with a mince pie

3.30 Home time, ready to take your completed bunting home to show your family and friends and decorate your home.

To ensure the quality of your personal experience, group size will be limited to 8.

About Chris Baxter

Chris has an exceptional talent and skill as a basket maker. Expressing her art genes originally through Fine Art she then turned to working with willow. Tutored by Jane Jennifer in Diss on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, her teachings has come from a confirmed heritage that began over 100 years ago starting with Ronnie Woods family. A member of the Basketmakers’ Association she shares their aim “to promote the knowledge  basketry, chairseating and allied crafts…”


Working locally she produces bespoke commission pieces and regularly teaches willow workshops. Working in willow that is harvested in the UK (Nottinghamshire and Somerset)
