Event Description

The quiet and calm of our local landscape, so much more peaceful during the past year’s lockdown, has been an inspiration for King’s Lynn artist Alison Dunhill. Her latest collection of paintings, evoking the diversity of the natural world and the tidal flow of the river, will form the bulk of this new exhibition, along with a few of the artist’s earlier landscapes not previously shown in Norfolk.

“Landscape painting is at the core of my practice as an artist” she says. “Indeed it’s my love of the Norfolk land that persuaded me to move to King’s Lynn 20 years ago. In lockdown it wasn’t practicable for me to work in my Hanse House studio, and I found time for long walks along the River Great Ouse, discovering secret green banks inaccessible by car. The urge to paint directly onto canvas at the scene, in response to the landscape, became intense.”

The artist will donate 15% of all sales revenue at the exhibition to the Purfleet Trust, supporting people who are homeless. The exhibition is part of the King’s Lynn Festival Autumn Series Fringe.
