Event Description

Join us for Eight Songs For A Mad King with remarkable vocalist and Wigmore Hall Associate who joins with a leading contemporary ensemble under its British-Lithuanian cellist/conductor director for a late-night programme consisting of two works. In its concert performance Elaine Mitchener will be the first female soloist to undertake the iconic Maxwell Davies work, which made such a huge splash following its 1969 première, and immortalised in the 1973 recording of the work by composer/vocalist Julius Eastman. The this concert it is paired with an instrumental work by the American visual artist and poet Albert M Fine (1932-87).
