Event Description

Virus and Boris permitting, we’re enormously excited to be back at Storey’s Field on Friday October 9th. The night starts at 7.00pm and the bill is completely brilliant.

Headline Act Roger Monkhouse… is one of the most original and distinctive acts on the comedy scene. A consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience. A highly original and quirky performer, Roger’s trademark stage-prowling style and curious, inimitable manner have established him as one of the hottest names on the comedy circuit.

Distinguished as a comic by his eloquence and keen eye for a fine phrase, Roger’s easy observational style is spiked by the signal flares of an accomplished gag writer. “His laconic delivery shields an engaging persona and an enquiring mind” The Guardian.

Opening Act Alasdair Beckett-King… is a legendary comedian, in that there is little historical evidence that he exists. But he does exist. Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2017, Alasdair has featured on BBC radio as a comedian and sketch writer, and performed stand-up across the UK, at Glastonbury, Citadel Fest, the Udderbelly Southbank and at the Edinburgh Fringe. “Delicious writing and exceptional observations” Chortle.

Middle act Kate McCabe…has been gigging on this side of the Atlantic for several years after starting her comedy career in NYC. She also performs with improv troupe ComedySportz Manchester and regularly appears on Fab Radio’s THE GAY AGENDA and on Gaydio’s THE EXCHANGE. When she’s not working, she enjoys comic books, Playstation, snacking, and naps.

Our MC is Jonathan Elston…. At just 28 years of age, Jonathan is a fresh, punchy, gag-driven comic who combines sharp joke writing and quirky observations with a youthful likeability that charms his audience and endears him to any room.“A young comic with incredible talent and natural warmth” The Guardian.

NB … To allow for appropriate social distancing, numbers will be strictly limited to 60.
To counteract this, the show will start at 7.00pm. This will allow a second, 9.15pm show to be added IF this looks to be viable. Oh, and as you’d expect, social distancing measures at the event will meet government guidelines.
