Come and see Clavering village’s glorious gardens, some never open before, from small and beautiful to an acre with stunning views over medieval Clavering. See The Little House, (open), built 1750, the smallest thatched cottage in England, also Beekeeping demos all day with glass observation hive.
Chestnut Cottage by the ford, sweeping lawns and flowers beds, lots of pathways and seats, Rose Cottage, packed with specialist plants and a fun model railway shed, Blacksmiths Cottage, the former village smithy with fabulous roses and peony trees, the ancient Clavering Guildhall, traditional classic garden still advised by the National Trust, and Piercewebbs, a big formal walled garden, yew topiary, stilt hedge, pond and wonderful field walk.
Teas, morning coffee, homemade cakes, cream teas, light refreshments all day.
Plant sales, shrubs, summer bedding, climbers from £1.
Cost £5 adults, children free, at the gate of any open garden, includes the Little House and demos etc.
All proceeds to MENCAP.
Parking in village lanes, or ample at Fox & Hounds, lunches available here also.
Directions: From B1383 follow signs to Newport/Clavering, from the A10, follow the B1038.
