Event Description


A special Christmas weekend opening. Come and find out a little about how Christmas was celebrated in the past and see some of the Museum’s historic buildings traditionally decorated for Christmas.

There will be a small artisan Christmas market and the Museum’s shop will be full of handmade products made by local crafts people including jewellery, candles, preserves and gin – perfect for a bit of Christmas shopping!

Saturday 4th December 10am – 4pm

  • Meet costumed inhabitants in our buildings
  • Learn about how Christmas was celebrated in the past
  • Do a bit of Christmas shopping at our small Christmas market
  • Listen to Chiltern Choir 2-3pm
  • See Father Christmas in his traditional dress
  • Take part in a Children’s craft activity
  • Make some festive candles (additional charge)
  • Listen to some festive storytelling
  • See the blacksmith working in the forge
  • Listen to our folk singers sing festive carols and join in!

Sunday 5th December 10am – 5pm

  • Meet costumed inhabitants in our buildings
  • Learn about how Christmas was celebrated in the past
  • Do a bit of Christmas shopping at our small Christmas market
  • Listen to the Jupiter Singers 12pm – 1pm
  • Listen to The Bucks Music Trust Band 2pm – 3pm
  • See Father Christmas in his traditional dress
  • Take part in a Children’s craft activity
  • Listen to some festive storytelling
  • See the blacksmith working in the forge
  • Listen to our folk singers sing festive carols and join in!
  • Make some festive candles (additional charge)
  • Speak to the local Jewish community and find out about Chanukah
  • 4pm join Rabbi Neil Janes and the South Bucks Jewish Community for a communal lighting of the Chanukiah and join celebrations on the last day of Chanukah, the Jewish festival of lights.

Standard admission rates apply. Free admission for annual pass holders.

Please book standard admission tickets for either the 4th or 5th December 2021. If you are staying until the end of the event we suggest you bring a torch.
