Event Description

The second trial of daytime meetings of the Bucks Pottery & Sculpture Society will be hosted by longtime member Bronwen Corrall who will demonstrate and talk about her fascination with the thrown vessel, and the use of vitreous slips for decoration.

The two main themes of Bron’s work are the vessel as a medium for artistic expression, and the infinite variations within a natural population. Within her work she creates small families of thrown porcelain vessels – each different but each reflecting others in the group. She sees in any natural grouping, from mountains to pebbles or fruit to people, similarities that demark a population, and variations that illustrate both subtle and obvious changes created by history, heredity and environment.

The Bucks Pottery & Sculpture Society meeting will be held at Little Kingshill Village Hall (HP16 0DZ) from 2-4pm on Thursday 31st August. Entry is free for BPSS members, £5 for visitors. See www.buckspotters.com for more information about the society – we are also on Facebook and Instagram.
