The most enchanting pantomime of them all!
It’s nearly panto time at the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch – oh yes it is! This year’s unmissable fun-packed tale is Cinderella, playing from 3 December – 14 January.
It doesn’t get more traditional than this. From enchanted pumpkins to lost crystal slippers, there’ll be magic, mayhem and comedy capers in the best show in town this Christmas!
The Queen’s Theatre has been working hard to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy the wonder of pantomime. Alongside the regular Signed and Audio-described Performances, the Theatre is further widening accessibility provision with the introduction of two specially adapted shows – a Relaxed Performance for audiences with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a Dementia-Friendly Performance. More details are available at queens-theatre.co.uk.
And in another exciting development this year, our festive extravaganza is overflowing with some of the best chart-toppers and dancefloor anthems over the decades! These include Make You Feel My Love (Adele), Trouble (Elvis), ABC (Jackson 5), Beautiful (Christina Aguilera), Somebody to Love (Queen) and many more, plus some of the most popular melodies from the West End and Broadway. All culminating in an enormous mega-mix party, which will get everyone on their feet!
All ages will love joining warm-hearted Cinderella on an exciting adventure from rags to riches as the kind Fairy Godmother transforms her into a dazzling beauty fit for a Prince! There’s no more scrubbing for Cinders, she’s off to The Ball and everyone’s invited.
Everyone can cheer, boo and laugh at all their favourite panto characters – the riotously wicked Ugly Sisters, stupendously silly Buttons, handsome Prince Charming, dashing Dandini and a deliciously evil Baroness. Supporting the cast is a Young Company of 30 super-talented local schoolchildren, who’ll be singing, dancing and playing various small roles. Many of these youngsters were cast through open auditions held at Romford’s Mercury Mall over the summer.
Written by Andrew Pollard and directed by Martin Berry, Cinderella is packed with live music, spectacular sets, colourful costumes, side-splitting slapstick and audience participation! For over 60 years, the Queen’s Theatre has been producing hugely popular Christmas pantomimes enjoyed by young and old, so everyone is guaranteed hours of top-quality entertainment.
Starring as Cinderella is Natasha Lewis, who has performed in a vibrant range of highly-acclaimed children’s theatre across the country, from the New Vic’s Peter Pan in Scarlet to a UK tour of The Jungle Book. The Queen’s Theatre is delighted to welcome back Made in Dagenham stars Jamie Noar (Prince Charming) and Alex Tomkins (Buttons) as well as Hornchurch favourite Georgina Field (Baroness Hardup). They are joined by a fantastically talented cast with extensive experience of pantomimes and family productions: Jonathan Charles, Etisyai Philip, Carl Patrick (who is also fresh from performing in the West End’s Guys and Dolls) and Simon Pontin, with musicians Joshua Goodman, Sarah Workman and Al Twist.
