For the past few years the team at eventswhatson.com have loved attending the The RHS Chelsea Flower Show and putting together some splendid features for our readers to enjoy. This year, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2020 was cancelled for the first time since the Second World War, going online-only instead. Despite the ongoing uncertainty, the RHS are hopeful next year will still be able to take place over six days instead of five the first time in its 108-year history.

From Tuesday 18th May to Sunday 23rd May 2021, the world-famous flower show will return to the Royal Hospital in Chelsea with many new precautions and a reduced number of visitors due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Some of the new COVID-safety measures for 2021 include:

  • Socially distanced queuing in place
  • Extra parking/park and ride
  • Crowd modelling and increased circulation and space changes to spread popular areas
  • Enhanced cleaning and waste disposal
  • Cashless transactions where possible
  • Increased monitoring to ensure safe distancing amongst visitors
  • Masks in indoor areas
  • Flexible ticket exchange for ticket holder experiencing symptoms
  • Track and trace check-in as per the guidance during show week

“Whilst we continue to live in uncertain times and May is a long way off, we believe these measures will mean we can safely run the Show, although we will of course be ready to react to any Government advice and if we sadly need to, will offer anyone who has booked a ticket a full refund.”

The RHS will be also be announcing some of the 2021 content highlights for its RHS Shows at Malvern, Chelsea, Hampton and Tatton later this month.

What highlights can we expect to see in 2021?

For 2021, there will be a new RHS Chelsea category: Sanctuary Gardens. With more of us turning to our gardens as a place of solace. In addition, visitors can also expect a brand new garden designed by Naomi Ferrett-Cohen. Named ‘Finding Our Way – An NHS Tribute Garden’, the garden will be a space to reflect on the incredible efforts of the thousands of people working in and around the NHS.

The Great Pavilion really is the heart of the show, with uplifting displays created to boost our spirits. Next year will see displays crafted by nurseries who live by the ethos ‘growing is good for you’ — something the team at eventswhatson.com can’t wait to see.
