BeWILDerwood

By Chloe Giles

On arrival the first thing we did was to take a boat ride from ‘Dismal Dyke’ to ‘The Scaaaaaary Lake’, experiencing the ‘Tricky Tunnel’ along the way. There were plenty of boats, each carrying up to 12 people. My child and her friend boarded the boat first, almost leaving me behind much to their amusement!

Having finally made it onto the boat, we were then squirted by Mildred the scary crocodile hiding in the lake, making me scream and almost leap overboard, and the toddler alongside burst into tears, all creating huge amounts of laughter from my 8 year old daughter and her friend.
One rather strange thing was – no boats were returning with people on board. I was later reassured when we came to make our return trip!

Pippa had the map reading down to a fine art, and the first stop was free face painting, (everything’s included free once your into BeWILDerwood).

We then visited the ‘Broken Bridge’, and ‘Wobbly Wires’. It was a very busy day, at the start of the holidays, but it is so well spaced out over an 18 acre woodland that there were no queues, and the children could go on everything as often as they liked.

We later found a lovely area opposite the ’Slippery Slopes’ to picnic, and although we packed our own lunch they had an impressively healthy and yummy looking menu, and I got myself an earl grey tea, before heading off into ‘The Sky Maze’.

BeWILDerwood is a fabulous outdoor adventure, with treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges, storytelling, boat trips, and so much to experience for all ages both young and old, suitable for both boys and girls, set deep into the Norfolk woods. I can see why it’s an award winning attraction!

BeWilderwood is located north east of Norwich on the A1062 between Wroxham, Hoveton and Horning in Norfolk, and very well signposted, with plenty of free car parking.
