Joanna Bailey explains below a little about what Arts Award means to her:

Gold Arts Award has offered me an array of possibilities as a young creative — from working with art practitioners to collaborating in local art events. The art practice I developed through Arts Award was photography and I was quickly encouraged to take inspiration from industry professionals. My artist’s eye was desirous of original material and was promptly served with cultural conference outings, local Artsmark exhibition placements, close workshop Royal Opera House Bridge participations, Icon Theatre event production assistance etc.

Meanwhile, I discovered a passion for reviewing films and art shows and was taken like a prolific art-lover by his voguish muse by the beauty and value of digital art. I explored why careers in creative fields are devalued and shared my arguments publicly. Since then, I have been able to experiment between art forms, perform collaboratively with my connections and immerse myself fully in the arts sector, an experience I have to recommend to all young ones. Here’s a link to my page: https://goldartsaward8.tumblr.com/ and my personal blog, https://jojob.myportfolio.com/.

My fervour for writing and art through Arts Award brought me to East Of England Online, where I gained a confident critical self-consciousness as a freelance journalist. I have gained effective art research skills, matured my interviewing ability and found utter joy in creating web copy and conversing with regional artists. I have the responsibility of writing commissioned articles about arts and entertainment and have worked for the company for a little over two years since my earliest article, ‘Is Art as important as academic subjects?’

I have had a lot of feedback and support with my event previews and interviews and have really enjoyed journeying from a wide-eyed amateur reporter with a promising foundation, albeit unversed in the ways of journalism, to an aspiring copywriter with newfound confidence on the page. I definitely owe a lot of my skills and ambition as a writer to East of England Online and I am thankful for the experience.

We welcome your enquiries and look forward to hearing from you!
