CAMBRIDGE COMEDY FESTIVAL 2021

CAMBRIDGE COMEDY FESTIVAL 2021

9TH – 11TH July, 2021

Abbot’s Ripton, Cambridgeshire

Three days, four stages and 150 acts… with camping!

The Cambridge Comedy Festival returns for its 14th edition – presenting a spectacular event featuring superstar household names, the very best circuit acts, left-field fringe performers and live podcast shows, plus brilliant family shows and all set in a beautiful countryside open-air location.

The Cambridge Comedy Festival was launched in 2007 with the aim of recreating a micro version of the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival experience in Cambridge. Its unique appeal is that it presented a host of big name comedians and the finest emerging talent to the city as they hone their shows for Edinburgh and beyond – and iron-out any rough edges. It’s been venue-based each year, but in 2016 and 2017 was moved outdoors to Jesus Green – which proved very popular. Due to the current climate this year it will be hosted outdoors again, but expanded into a fully-fledged festival experience.

The festival will take place on Grange Farm in Abbot’s Ripton, Huntingdon, which is where the Secret Garden Party was held. The site’s unique and quirky features lend itself perfectly to a comedy festival.

Over 150 acts appear across four stages, packed with so many amazingly funny comedians – from household names from TV and stage such as Rob Beckett, Milton Jones, Dara Ó Briain, Ed Byrne, Gary Delaney, Nina Conti, Al Murray Reginald D Hunter and Russell Kane, to the very best circuit acts, to left-field fringe acts to live podcast shows, plus lots of fantastic kids/family shows. After the comedy shows have finished each evening, comedians will even be having a go at DJing their favourite tunes in the Glade bar area – and if all of that isn’t enough to tickle your comedy appetite, there’s also a fresh water swimming lake on site!

There is a camping zone right next to the arena, and for those that need their creature comforts – there’s Boutique Camping too.

With either full weekend passes (with or without camping) or individual day tickets available, this will offer something to all comedy fans – who can get to watch all the very best acts in one place but also be at an event where they can feel safe and be outdoors.

Andy White, of 2 Ton Productions, is excited about the festival:

“With no live comedy since March last year, I really wanted to create an event that would give all the amazing acts out there an opportunity to get back on stage and not only do what they do best but also what they love doing – entertaining and making people laugh. And for all the fans of comedy out there an event where they get to watch all the very best acts in one place but also an event where they can feel safe and be outdoors. Obviously creating such an ambitious event which will basically be the UK’s first ever all comedy 3-day festival with camping is a huge project, and I guess I must be a bit bonkers attempting it during the world’s worst pandemic for 100 years – but what the heck, we’re going for it anyway as we all need a good laugh and weekend away”
