GABBY wins BurySOUND 2019!

The 21st BurySOUND Music Competition came to a close last Friday, 8th March with an incredible Grand Final at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds.
The five Heat Winners – stadium-indie fivesome HISTORY & LORE, indie/soul quartet GABBY, singer/pianist JASMINE CANHAM, 80s-tastic pop outfit SOPHIE MAHON & THE READY MADES and hard rock quintet FINAL TRANSMISSION – joined last year’s winners, teenage prog-metal duo INFLUX OF INSANITY, for an staggeringly varied evening of amazing music.
After the longest ever deliberation by our judging panel (made up of local promoters, venue owners, radio presenters and music journalists), GABBY – fronted by 16-year-old singer/guitarist Gabby Rivers – was crowned the winner of BurySOUND 2019.  Gabby’s prize will include two days’ studio time at The Shrubbery Recording Studio (partly funded by Bury-based music therapy programme Noise Solution), a merchandise package from Ouroboros Screen Printing and BestBadges.co.uk, a professional branding package by Make North, free tour van hire and industry advice from Neon Street Touring, vouchers from Sounds Plus music shop, a promotional photoshoot by Jan Roberts Photography and a main stage slot at this year’s Homegrown Music Festival.
HISTORY & LORE were awarded the Rising Star Award, and will receive a day’s recording session at Crooks Hall Studio, a merchandising package from Ouroboros Screen Printing, industry advice from Toonteen Artist Management and a promotional photoshoot by Jan Roberts Photography.  Last year’s Rising Star Awards winners KYANOS have gone on to receive national press acclaim from NME and radio support from BBC Radio 6music.
