2018 Charity of the Year – Missing People

Dear EOE readers

Missing People is delighted that EOE has chosen to support the charity throughout 2018.

Missing People exists to be a lifeline when someone disappears. We provide free advice, support services and ways to find missing people through our free, confidential 116 000 helpline which is available 24/7 for anyone who needs us. We offer practical and emotional support to people who are away from home and the families left behind.

Did you know that 250,000 people go missing in the UK every year that’s one person every two minutes and 140,000 of these are under 18.

When a child leaves home they are vulnerable, afraid and at risk of exploitation.

Andrew (Pictured left) was just 14 when he left school early and caught the train alone from Doncaster to London. The last sighting of him is a CCTV image at Kings Cross station – that was 10 years ago.

Over the last decade, we have supported Andrews’s family by launching publicity appeals in newspapers, on billboards, bus shelters and on TV. It has been an agonising wait and to this day, they still do not know where he is

Missing People is the only charity in the UK offering specialist support when someone disappears.

In recent years the number of missing children we’re searching for has doubled and our resources are stretched to breaking point. We have the expertise and experience to bring them back home but urgently need your help to protect these children and bring them safely home.

It would be great if East of England readers would be able to support our Find Every Child campaign by taking on a challenge or organising a fundraising event. If you would like more information please visit www.missingpeople.org.uk/fundraise or contact nathan.ramsden@missingpeople.org.uk.

I very much hope that you will offer your support and hope we can work together to help find every child.
